I was thinking really hard about what to get my wife for valentines day, she has everything but still I needed to get her something special and could I come up with anything? Nope. Then, a friend of mine recommended a website Sightseeing Tours London. The millions of visitors who come easito the UK stay in London but there is a tremendous wealth of attractions outside of London and one of these great places is Stonehenge. People often ask what is the easiest method of getting from London to Stonehenge and we have to give them the following answers.

How to go from London to Stonehenge by car.

Stonehenge is located about 2 miles West of Amesbury just off the A303 and A344/A360. If you are coming from central London or Heathrow Airport way: Follow the signs for M4 West. In about 2 miles exit junction 4b onto the M25 south bound. Follow the signs for Gatwick Airport. Look for the Basingstoke sign (at junction 12) to the M3. Continue on the M3 to A303 Andover (junction 8). Follow the A303 ALL the way until you reach a roundabout. Pass through this and in 2 miles you will need to bear right onto the A344. After about 500 meters there is a car park on the right hand side which you will want to pull into.

Getting from London to Stonehenge by Coach.

You could walk, although I would leave it quite a few days to get there - it is certainly not recommended! Some people I know have cycled it, although if you were considoring doing this please make sure you try in the summer and not in the winter as you would be very cold and wet doing it in Winter!

Most people will choose to hire a car this is one of the easiest ways - although its never cheap to hire a car and you need to sort out insurance and many other aspects so just be prepared for that. The option we always recommend is a stonehenge tour as this is when you are picked up from London by a coach and then driven out and guided around the great circle of rocks. This is generally quite cost effective and efficient and allows you to be looked after safely and any questions you have can easily be answered.
